Any thoughts on Placenta Encapsulation? My SIL says she plans to do it. Anyone done it before?

Not personally but I know several people who have!

After the process of encapsulating them, they loose the benefits. It’s more of a trend than beneficial.

@beakymcspence, @lakota-winyan, thanks for your response. I never considered before until SIL mentioned it’s supposed to help with milk production. I’m so early in my pregnancy, but my biggest fear is breast feeding. I thought if it were true I’d consider...but I’m hesitant.

If you go with encapsulation, make sure of the process. Some moms have gotten very sick if the placenta isn't dried and preserved properly. So definitely look into what is the best process and what the person who is doing to preserve it.

As for breastfeeding, milk can take a while to come in for first time moms. *took me 8 days* pumping and giving formula can help in the meantime until your milk comes in. Skin to skin as soon as possible after birth and as much as possible during the first week help alot.
