Mirena iud questions!

When does cramping calm down after getting it? And is a stinging pain when moving around normal?

Few hours after insertion and the sting pain could be the threads poking / scratching you in there so if that continues ask for them so be cut shorter x

I had it for 18 months and I always had problems with it. Those symptoms never went away and made sex uncomfortable.

@davidj66, let your dr know how you’re feeling. If your dr doesn’t want to listen try getting another professional opinion. My last dr didn’t want to hear me out and I instead for a sonogram to check my pains I had a cyst that’s needed medical surgery to get it taken out all because of the IUD mirena. She refused to removed iud. She said “I have too many children already “but I had lost major weight for my size from 120 ish to 95 pounds Causing health issues and already affecting my ability to take care of my children. So I went to get a second opinion at the ER a week later. Until then I research home remedies to handle my cyst pains. I came across cranberry juice to detox my body from toxins so I only had cranberry juice for a week. By the time I went to the ER I had another sonogram and they said my cyst didn’t need any surgical removal that it’s at a normal size on it’s own it’ll disappear as long as I remove the iud. The ER couldn’t remove it for whatever reasons. I went to planned parenthood and I mentioned everything no detail left out and they removed it for me. They also showed me how it looked and it smelled bad and look like it was getting infected. But i felt relived. After my period came normal. For about 2 years I was using depo shot until I Decided I needed to stop taking it because supposedly taking it for more than two years can affect fertility. I wanted more children in the future...

A couple months later i got pregnant with baby number 5. I couldn’t be happier.

I hope whatever birth control you end up on it works out for you and you don’t need to go through the struggle I had to go through. Research and review helped me a lot and home remedies. Listen to your intuition if something doesn’t feel okay to you speak up to your love ones and dr. Don’t wait a year and half thinking it’s normal to feel uncomfortable. Good luck 👍

@yurica thank you for advice! (See I had issue in past depo I had so many complications and then pill made me very sick no matter which version I took and I can't do arm cause it gives off very similar hormones to depo so sadly this was my last bet so hoping it gets better...)
