Breastfeeding mamas: my baby hasn’t been latching good enough or fast enough to get the milk he needs before he gets frustrated so I’ve been hand expressing and letting the drops fall into his mouth as I put my nipple against his lips. Is that ok for now until he gets used to the latch?
Greyson had a hard time latching and the lactation specialist actually gave that as advice. She said to Express a little so he would know it was there and want to latch knowing the food was there.
If where you delivered has a lactation specialist see if you can talk to them! I know where I delivered from the time you have baby till you stop breast feeding you can go see the lactation specialist
Oh yeah for sure I do and I have the number. Thing is when I express the milk, it’s like baby boy doesn’t know what it is where as my girls would recognize the milk and then try to latch. But when he was first born he would latch great, and now three days later it’s a little harder. He also has a bit of jaundice so maybe that’s making him more lethargic 🤷🏽♀️ I dunno, I should call them and see what I can to help him out 🌹
@christineg I'd definitely call! My son had trouble latching right away but come to find out he had a slight lip tie that made it hard for him. Good luck mama!
Watch videos on correct latch. Try different positions. Definitely look for a lactation specialist, do whatever it takes to keep your supply up, hand express, pump.. My son had a hard time with latch and he had a hidden tongue and lip tie that wasn’t really noticeable at all until I saw a LC and she spotted it and we got it removed.
