Okay ladies, I need your help. I've been officially diagnosed now with gestational diabetes but I can't see the dietician for nearly three weeks since she is booked up and will be going on vacation before I can see her. Can anyone suggest to me any kind of good websites, food blogs, etc that are diabetic friendly? I want to start eating the way I'm supposed to as soon as possible but without seeing the dietician and my last visit with one for GD being about three years ago now I'm lost. I get my testing equipment next week sometime in the mail so I should have about two weeks of numbers to give my OB and hopefully if I fix my diet accordingly now they'll be decent numbers and I won't have to start on medication.

Basically limit your carbs.
Measure everything out.
Lower carbs in the morning, like under 15g and then lunch and dinner can be a more - like 45g was mine. Lots of veggies and protein!
If you go out to eat, research the restaurant if you can.
Pinterest has some great low carb recipes!

I had GD with both pregnancies and didn’t need any meds. Just had to stay super on top of things. And a little exercise can help if your numbers are a little higher, but they’ll talk about that more when you can go in.

@littleonemorning Ah I'm on limited exercise allowance right now for a problem with my weight, I'm not really able to do much without pain in my leg and they want me off of it because it swells with too much activity and it's a blood vessel related issue so they're having me stay off of it as much as possible for now until they can run more tests and make sure it's not an added risk. I can keep chasing my toddler around as I normally would but they told me to otherwise try not to do too much extra so I was hoping that changing up my diet asap would do some good since I'm supposed to be staying off my problem leg.

@rariszoo, oh diet will help a ton! I really didn’t exercise too much except for the occasional walk or running errands. But def check Pinterest. You can basically google gestational diabetes and they have a more standard guidelines for carbs.
Once you meet with the doctor though they’ll probably help you work with what is “safe” grams of carbs for you cause sometimes it might be different

I was told 30 carbs or less for breakfast, 45 for lunch, then 45-60 at dinner. With 2 snacks of 15-30.
