I've got carpal tunnel and they gave me splints but the pain is now in my shoulderblade... please someone tell me this will go away after pregnancy. And is there anything I can do to treat the problem rather than the symptoms?... anything helps

I’ve had carpel tunnel for 15 years now and it’s gotten worse both pregnancies. Pregnant or not, when my wrists get bad, the pain does radiate up my arm and into my neck/shoulders.

Those splints will help, especially if you wear them while you sleep. It’ll be an adjustment at first, but it gets better. For my neck/shoulder, massage and Tylenol until everything gets better. If you can afford it, go get a massage and let them know about your wrists and shoulders. Neck and shoulder stretches helped me too, but massage is always the fastest way to relief for me.

I am in physical therapy for this among other things and YES there are things! There are stretches and chiropractics, which combined can help! I had lack of motion in my shoulder blade and had to have a shoulder release done by my therapist which helped the pinched nerve. Chiropractic adjustment got my neck in motion and together I am getting better! I have a sever case in both hands. Neurologist said nothing but splints would help. But since going to the chiropractor and having therapy sessions I am finally back to being within normal range of motion. Still working on the pain but it has lessened a great deal!!!

Are you pregnant? If not did it start in your pregnancy?

@petals Baby is 10 months old now. Started really bad around my first pregnancy and got some better a few months after baby was born. Resurfaced worse than before with the last pregnancy and I learned that it was more of a mobility issue. My EMG was not as significant as my symptoms and getting mobility back in my shoulder and neck, middle, lower back has dramatically improved my pain level. Neurologist didn't agree with my explanation of my pain or what I told him I was feeling but the therapist and chiropractor listened and assessed my body then took measures to help me. The splints were making me worse, causing horrible Charlie horse pains in my wrists that left my hands crippled me crumpled on the floor in pain. Can't hurt to try worked for me and go from there. Therapy and chiro combined have made a huge difference.

They have me taking tramadol for my nerve damage and sciatica pain, just assure the doctors that you’ve tried everything else and it’s not working... It helps me A LOT and last for 8 hours

I wish I could say it goes away after pregnancy, but for me, it didn't. It lessened a little, but never completely went away. It came back this pregnancy and it's worse than it was my last pregnancy.
