I had a friend today get a warning because her 5 year old son was sitting in a booster with a seatbelt instead of the 5 point harness which I tried to explain to her she didn’t listen. She got pulled over for something and they told her he needed to still be in a car seat which I already explained to her 🤦♀️ every state is different I do know that.

After the age of five it’s dependent on how well the child sits most kids are more ready closer to six but some mature kids at the age of five can sit in a booster. What state if you don’t mind me asking.

He’s to small he’s like 35 lbs he’s a small short little boy and I told her until he gets passed a certain lbs he should still be in a 5 point harness but I wasn’t trying to push her it’s her child not mine but I did tell her to be careful. My sons brothers who’s 9 say in a car seat till he was 7 I mean it’s also up to the parent my 11 year old sat in a booster till 9. I live in IL

I know here they go based off weight not age or height anymore. I swear so much has changed though. My two older kids were already forward facing around a year old & at the time, the doctor was clearing them that they’re good to switch. Now, the baby should be rear facing until TWO. It scares me because I didn’t realize how lucky I was that my older two weren’t injured at any point thank god but how easily they could have been is alarming. Things always change over time but that one gets me & makes me feel terrible.

See when my oldest was 1 he was a already facing forward to because back then it was 1 year or 20lbs so when I found out I was pregnant again 6.5 years later I didn’t know everything had Changed. So I completely understand what you mean. Don’t feel terrible we’ve all done it. Things be changing so often
