My boyfriend does his taxes and comes out saying “I’m only getting 400 back”
That just doesn’t seem right. He works near 30 hours each week at near 20$ an hour.
Does that seem right to you guys?
I get at least 700 back for working full time 40 hours a week.
“Next year” he says “I’ll have you help me”
Ya because to be honest I think you’re doing it wrong.

Is he using turbo tax or something??? There are so many other factors besides what you bring home every week

Right? That’s what I told him. Next year I’m doing it with him. He uses TurboTax yes.

Does he have any dependants? Theres other things to condider to like type of Health insurance etc. That could be right...turbo tax walks you thru every single step and options so its kind of hard to fck it up lol

I’m thinking he just forgot to add some stuff he could have. I’m claiming our daughter this year because she’s on my insurance. I still think 400 is pretty low for him. Idk though now.

Completely depends on how he’s filled out his W4 with his employer. It doesn’t really matter what his take home pay/hours are.

Also depends how much federal taxes he paid? Or he has dependents and claimed EIC

My husband and I both work over 40 hours a week and we have one daughter and paid near $15,000 in to taxes and still we owed the state of Oregon $564 and only got $700 from federal. So the higher the tax bracket, the less you get.
