Can school counselors talk to kids about anything? For instance, Jackson is having a really hard time eating. He doesn’t like anything, when he takes a bite bigger than a nibble he spits it out, gags, then doesn’t want to eat the rest of the day. I can’t get anything out of him other than he’s scared of choking... but I don’t know why. Can they help?

I think a speech therapy eval would be helpful to pinpoint the issue. Has he actually choked in the past?

What we used to think was choking was actually gaging. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t actually choked before

@j.andtaysmama he may have an overactive gag reflex and speech therapy could help desensitize him. It may be textural issues with certain foods also.

@jenx, yes he definitely doesn’t like certain textures. Hubbys side of the family all have that issue
