So I had my dating scan on the 8th. Well the technician couldn't tell me anything at all.... I couldn't even hear the heart beat. She showed me the sound waves but that was it. I got a few pictures but only got to watch the screen for a couple of seconds before she turned it back around. She didnt tell me the heartrate, what I was measuring at or anything.... did anyone else deal with this??? For my daughters first ultrasound didnt go anything like this...
Here ultrasound technicians aren’t legally allowed to tell you anything, the ultrasound must be reviewed by a radiologist and the results forwarded to your doctor.
@mommy_broadway, Ultrasound technicians have training in taking the photos a radiologist is a doctor licensed in reading scans xrays etc. It’s a liability, and in most places now to be on the safe side they don’t allow techs to tell you anything. The hospital I work at there’s huge signs telling you ULTRASOUND TECHNICIAN CANNOT RELEASE MEDICAL AND DIAGNOSITC INFO.
That being said my doctor does my scans and so he tells me what he’s seeing at the time! It’s likely nothing to worry about you just need the results from your doctor ❤️
I asked, but she couldn't tell me anything? Maybe some new policy at my drs office?
It depends. My doctor does the scans himself so he was able to say things. Depending on policy most ultrasound techs can’t give out too much information.
@mommy_broadway wait for what tho? What was the point of the ultrasound then?? That's weird?
@jleona I'm assuming I'll have to wait for my next drs appt for the results maybe?
When mine are quiet I start asking Questions. I hate when they don’t communicate bc we automatically start over thinking.
That’s so weird. I live in New York and the techs do everything they take the pictures but also my tech always told and showed me the heartbeat and she also told us what we were having . But my friend lives in Texas and she had the same problem where the tech wouldn’t say anything and she had to wait until her apt with her Dr to discuss
