Anyone get their children a baby doll to help them adjust to a "baby" in the house before the baby is actually here? I'd planned on carrying it around, pretending to do diaper changes, etc
Also teaching him to be gentle with something he associates with a baby. I've never had a problem with him not being gentle with babies, normally the first thing he wants to do is hug them and pet their tummies. Think it's a good idea? And no, I don't want to hear about "no he's a boy, you shouldn't let him play with dolls. Dolls are for girls." I don't care for that stereotype, he plays with them at his cousins when were there, he just doesn't have any at home since he's got a crap ton of toys and he's car and dino obsessed. We've just not thought to buy a doll until now since at the stores he just goes straight to cars and dinos even if we passed the dolls. 🤷 And with a little girl on the way well they'll be plenty of dolls in due time I'm sure that he'll play with then too.

I think it's a good idea, kinda help him adjust and understand what a baby is and to be gentle. I got my son a baby doll for Christmas (I'm not pregnant) to teach him to be gentle and he likes to learn body parts with it. I did buy him a boy one so my husband wouldn't complain so much lol

lol we'll be getting a girl since that's what we're having but his dad couldn't care less if he played with dolls and things. We just haven't bought him one yet because he always chooses cars over a doll when we offer them to him lmao

@rariszoo my husband ACTS like he cares but then plays with him with the doll lol. Hope it helps! My daughter was two when I had my first son and she was great with him. She liked to feed him and get diapers and wipes so I could change him.

I read recently that it’s very smart. The article said to have him do the (fake) feedings, diaper changes, putting down for a nap.
It said to repetitively talk about how he’s going to be a good big brother. Talk about how he’s going to help mommy, ect. 🤗

I didn’t buy one but used one of stuffed Charlie Brown’s. I loved having it as an example. Showed him how to hold it, pat it, buckling the car seat and other important things. Showed him how to be nice. Now baby is about to be 1 and they have a perfect little brother bond! ❤️
