When you guys had your children how long did you have to wait to receive your child tax benefit? My neighbour has been upset her child is 4 months and havn't received it yet.

Got mine after 4 mths ... they are backlogged. I still haven't received his birth certificate 😑

yup. When I called ...they said there is a 14-18 week delay.

It definitely takes longer than 4 months. 🤷♀️ oh well, when that cheque does come in it's a happy happy day! Lol

The following month, but our youngest was born 4 years ago so could be different now. At least they do retroactive payments so if you are stuck waiting 4 months they will pay you what’s owed at once for those months.

It can also be delayed if the persons taxes are not up to date. Child tax are real sticklers about that. So if her taxes are not current they won’t process it and also won’t tell you unless your checking the “My CRA”.

Tell her to sign up for
My CRA online. Checking on there should tell her the status and when she’s expected to be paid. It will tell you the date etc it should be processed by.
