I will say I ingested my own meconium and obviously I didn’t die but my mom had to have emergency csection with me.She did not drink castor oil.I believe I was just in there way to long.
I know people who have done it and their babies are fine but my aunt decided to try it and almost lost her baby a few years ago. So I definitely don’t suggest it but it works for some people I guess.
Just like someone else already commented.. I heard it’s bad for the baby and that it’ll make the baby poop and if they poop before they’re born they’re most likely going to ingest it and not survive. My mom tried it when she was pregnant with me and luckily when I pooped it was as I was being born and not inside the womb, although I still managed to ingest it somehow and was very sick and in the NICU for 2 weeks but if I had still been inside my mothers belly I most likely wouldn’t have survived.
It’s very unlikely if anyone here used it even with a positive outcome that they are going to share their experience with it on your post. It’s a very hot topic around here lol and I doubt they’d open themselves up to the people who’d eat them alive over it. It would be like throwing chum bait in shark infested waters 🙊
So the thing is that yes, for some it did work and there were no consequences for doing so. But for others, they did it and their baby didn’t make it. Or was seriously sick when born.
As an L&D nurse my advice to you is to not even consider it definitely not worth the risks.
I have delivered babies who are born flat and not breathing due to distress and passing meconium from a patient ingesting caster oil. I’ve also had a coworker who delivered a baby who was still born due to foetal distress (also due to caster oil)
Yes it was suggested in a time before awareness of the consequences. As a mother and a nurse just tough it out that’s my best suggestion to you. If it was medically necessary to induce your doctor would be doing it in a controlled setting 🙂 Plus I’ve had patients tell me it tastes like melted chapstick so yuck.
@allaboutsyd a while ago when this was preggie there was a girl niece that pooped in the womb and swallowed it. She had complications and eventually passed but that story has always stuck with me.
A short while ago a lady posted a screenshot of someone else's story, it caused the baby to poop before being born and the baby didn't survive because of it.
