My sister in-law is 13 weeks pregnant but they can not find a heart beat for the baby. She has no sign of a miscarriage, not even cramps. The Dr. Is pushing her to take some meds to help her pass the baby. This was her 1st ultrasound even. She is 38 hoping for her 1st baby. I'm telling her to wait and don't take anything. What do u guys think ?

If she’s been to 2 places and both say fetus isn’t viable then she needs to take the meds.

I had a missed miscarriage at 16 weeks. I went to hospital and chose delivery over the D&C.
Get a second opinion or wait a week this happened to me come to find out I was as far along as they thought once they measured my uterus and sac and all that
I also went to a pregnancy clinic they also let me that there ultrasound machine is not as advanced as the ER

Sounds like missed miscarriage, i had it at 11 weeks, took the medicine to pass the baby but i was in “labor “ for days and nothing passed, then went in for D&C which was fast and easy. I’m really sorry for your sis in law :(

Same thing happened I was 10 weeks but when they did ultrasound it show 8 weeks and no heartbeat I didn’t have no signs no cramping bleeding the only thing different my nauseas went away other than that nothing it was a missed miscarriage I went to er did other ultrasound same thing no heartbeat and measuring behind so they did a d&c sorry about your sister in law.

There’s no reason to wait. At 13 weeks a heartbeat would be seen. Waiting could give her a fatal infection.
Yes that's true, I didn't think about that. I just thought she would have signs of a miscarriage by now.
If it is truly a missed miscarriage, then she needs to get meds so she doesnt risk her own health. However, if she wants another opinion, she needs to be seen very soon. At 13 weeks there should be a heart beat.

Yeah that's true.. the free pregnancy clinic has studies giving the ultrasounds. I just suggested she go to her own Dr.
Amen, I'm just hoping for a different out come. I couldn't imagine.
I would maybe go to another Dr always a good thing to get a 2nd opinion
@momof3cuties did your baby make it ? I don't believe She hasn't had a vaginal ultrasound yet.
I think maybe she should give it an extra week maybe it's just late
The heartbeat should be seen by now. There is also a thing called a missed miscarriage where baby is no longer developing but your body doesn't know. I'd have her go in, ask for one last us and if nothing take the medicine. Carrying a dead fetus can have severe consequences.
I'm just hopefully wishing for her. She went to a free pregnancy clinic and they said no heart beat, then to the er and they said the same. For her to start the meds... I just told her to make an appointment with her Dr. And go from there. I have read a few stories where there wasn't a hb detected then a few days later it was.
