Ugh baby is still not sleeping threw nights and her pediatrician said to put a tbsp of cereal in at night. Something has to give. Me getting no sleep is terrible for the both of us 😭

Baby is too young to sleep throughout the night.
Also sleeping through the night means 6hr straight - not more.
And research shows that cereal isn’t beneficial that early on to babies who are otherwise healthy.

I'm listening to her pediatrician 👍 and she doesnt do 6 hours straight anyway.

as someone who is in medical school - and has access to the newest and up-to-date research - I would bring it to your pediatrician attention (of course in a nice and respectful way). I can send you some links to papers if you would like. I can assure you that if your pediatrician has somewhat successful practice - it is impossible to him/her to keep up with current papers. It is however mentioned in the APA and WHO guidelines ( those are the two that pediatricians and doctors should follow).
Just do a quick research on google - i bet it will be fruitful.

She’s to young to sleep through the night. Don’t expect that for a long time. Also cereal is bad and should never be given to baby. Just milk until 6 months.

Again listening to her pediatrician .

Cool maybe do your own research.

. Maybe I'll listen to someone who's done years of research.

That’s pretty normal at 2 months old. I know it’s tough, but you can do it! The sleepless nights will be over before you know it. My baby girl didn’t sleep through the night for he first time until she was 6 months old.

I so dont want to wish time away but i really need to make it to when she sleeps for longer then 3 hours before I go insane 😭 I'm already insane 😩

I know the exact feeling! My daughter woke up every 2-3 hours for a long time. I remember sitting up crying while I fed her. It will eventually get easier though. Being a mommy is a tough job sometimes, but totally worth it 😁 just hang in there! You can do it!

Sleeping through the night is a psychological milestone. There's is nothing you can physically do to make her sleep longer. It's a myth and old advice that formula and cereal makes babies sleep longer. Before you blindly follow your pedi, all him why he would go against the WHO and APA. Baby cereal is one of the worst things you can give.

Thank you. I’m thinking you’re giving a 2 month old cereal? 👀😣 poor baby
..... rough on tummy

There’s nothing you can do to make her sleep for longer periods of time, it’s a milestone she’ll have to reach with time, and there’s also a 4 month sleep regression coming at ya soon. Feeding her more or adding things to her bottles won’t help her sleep, they could actually have the opposite effect. Just hang in there! It know it isn’t fun to be running on minimal sleep, but I promise it’ll get easier as you guys fall into a routine!

Doctors are not infallible. I've had 2 different pediatricians give me opposing information before regarding cereal in milk. One told me to do it to have my baby sleep longer. The other (her regular pediatrician) was up to date on the WHO and APA information regarding cereal in milk and advised me to not do so.

Even if you give her cereal, she still probably won't sleep through the night. She's not developmentally ready to sleep a full stint if she's not currently doing so. There are a ton of pediatricians who don't follow continuing education and still give outdated advice such as this.
Giving baby solids before 6 months AND developmentally ready can cause lifelong digestive issues for them. You have to ask yourself what's more important, you getting a few extra hours of shut eye (which isn't going to happen with cereal anyway) or you giving your child digestive complications?
It's important to follow doctors' advice, but it's also important to do your own research and realize that sometimes doctors follow outdated practices.

my daughter didn't sleep through the night until she was about a year and a half 😩
I exclusively breastfeed to 6 months and then started her on solids as well as formula while still breastfeeding her and she still didn't sleep though the night 😯
I asked a baby nutritionist what I was doing wrong and she simply said, some babies just don't sleep well at night. Welcome to the club 😕
Don't be too hard on yourself, you're not alone.
My daughter is 2 now, she sleeps in her own room and she still wakes up 1 or 2 a night. Turns out she is an extremely light sleeper... and a sensitive soul, she just needs that extra comfort at night.
(Also i tried the cry it out method with her more than once after the age of 1 and it did not work for us, just made the night worse and the next day harder)
My son on the other hand he's 3 months and only wakes up at the max twice and he barely even wakes up. It's a night and day difference.
Hang in there!
