My husband wants to buy a house but he wants to buy a cheap one that we would have to fix up and I feel like it would cost more to fix it up than to just buy one that’s move in ready. I did talk to a lender and he said we wouldn’t be able to get a loan and that we didn’t make enough to get one. So idk what to do. He’s looking at foreclosed homes and homes for auction

I guess it depends on where you live but my $68,000 no problems besides floors and walls still look like they came out the 80s we worked on that little at a time. Definitely easy fix. House itself is fine.

We brought a double wide for 5,500 cash and it's been a little over a year and about 15,000 later we ain't done

That’s what I’m scared of. It takes so long and he acts like he can have it done in 6 months. He wants to hire a contractor

they are pricey but they might have it done by then. He did everything his self

Maybe he has some friends with different trades to help out? We bought our house almost a year ago and it's a fixer upper (128 years old). We got lucky and it has a much newer updated in law sweet that we are STILL living in. But my SO has been getting lots of help from many of his friends to fix the house. So far we've had a plumber come out who said he would bring 2 men for 2 days to rip holes in our ceiling and wall to replace some of the pipes then they would just leave the holes for us to fix on top of charging us $8,200!!! We both laughed at the guy I my SO got a friend to come in and help. They did the plumbing themselves and he spend no more then $1,000. Friends are cheap to pay too, pizza and beer!!!! 🍕🍺

If you can trust him to hold up to his word that he’s going to work on fixing it up, i see no issues with it. It would also be good to have connections because hiring contractors are expensive.
My SO took almost 2 years trying to put shelves up. Lol i dont trust him on fixing anything 🤷🏻♀️😂 I told him we are in no way buying a fixer upper with how he puts things off to the side. Or he gets things done half way and then gives up.

If it’s cheap enough I’d go for it 🤷🏻♀️ fix it up, sell it for higher down the road and get something you really really like .
