How long does it take stitches to dissolve? I sustained fourth degree tears if that makes a difference

I had 2nd degree and at my 6 week appointment the doc said I still had some left. So I just kept the top shaved and where the stitches were I just trimmed

Yes I thought they dissolved after 2 week but my doc said I still had some from where I tore inside

@natalielucas99 I was just looking at the area last night to see the progress and it looks like they missed a stitch or I've loosen it a bit... Stitches are very much in tact otherwise but I think I'll be going in much sooner than originally planned to address this :/

Ugh that sucks, but give it a little bit and you won’t even remember not being able to shave! Lol

It really depends on the stitches they used.

Some are week, some are 2 weeks, some longer.

I would say 2 weeks for 4th degree as the wound might be deep.

I have no idea what's TYPICAL but mine seemed to be gone after about a week. But I definitely did not tear as badly as you 😭 your poor junk ❤️

I'm only asking because I desperately want to shave but I don't want to accidentally grab the stitches lol! I want to see how healing is going and it is hard when I have all this hair :(

@scared_shtless, maybe use like a small pair of scissors to have more control and I do it in a mirror. Today was the first time I shaved and I was still crazy careful and paranoid lol
