My son got the flu at 6 months and it was the worst experience of my life. He was throwing up every hour or so. He refused to eat or drink anything so he got dehydrated and we ended up in the ER. It was so scary.
While I was in the hospital the first day or so after Xander was born our roommate came down with a really bad virus. He politely offered to stay at a friends for a few days and my fiancé did his best to clean and disinfect everything but unfortunately, bringing our first child home, my fiancé and I both came down with it. It was awful. Our fevers were so high, it was torture just for me to pull the covers off to nurse him. I was only able to nurse the first three months due to a hormonal imbalance, but I swear that is what saved my newborn from catching it. Since not being able to nurse, I am extra cautious about his immunity (family history of various immune issues). Limiting exposure while not taking him out of those situations entirely while introducing him to many new environments just so his body can learn to balance itself out accordingly. Every kiddo and situation is different, you know your baby best. Just keep an eye out and hope all works out!
That makes sense then because I have been sick twice since he has been born and he hasn’t caught it I’m also breastfeeding. I have him in a private babysitter to avoid exposure but she got sick somehow😖
Breastmilk is like an all natural vaccine when you are sick and your body makes antibodies to fight it they are passed through you to baby and he or she becomes immune to that specific strain. Liquid gold.
