Are there any nurses, PCP, CNA anything medically in here or anyone convicted of a felony? 9 years…

Here in CA it depends on the employer. Hospitals look back up to 15 years. They want you to be honest if you had an issue within those 15 years because even if it’s considered cleared, the charge can still be found, these databases are scary! My friend had a felony 8 years ago and was honest about it and still got the job.

I’m a chiropractor and I have licenses in both New York and Pennsylvania as well as a professor of anatomy. Currently I am unaware of any pre-med students or nursing students that have any felony convictions.

Personally upon my entrance into graduate school there are questions if one has a felony conviction. I understand that there are both violent and non-violent felonies but if my memory serves me right I’m not sure if the entrance application wanted to distinguish the two. If a prospective student has a felony they are denied admission into the program. It would be a waste of time and money to go through with school if you were never able to get licensed. Once graduated I applied for my licenses to practice. I had to allow each state to complete a state police background check and as a doctor a background check through the FBI.

I’m not sure if this is the background check you performed on yourself. Online background checks through websites that do not end in .gov are not what is used in the medical field. I’m am unsure where you heard that a felony conviction falls off one’s record? It’s a felony not a bankruptcy! I believe you are confused with a credit score and the seven year rule.

Regardless I believe you gave two steps to take. 1) contact your school of study and disclose the felony and ask if it will bar you from being licensed 2)contact an attorney and discuss having them complete a petition to reduce and expunge your conviction. With a bunch of paper work, a court date, and I’m assuming several thousands of dollars you could have your record reduced to a misdemeanor or expunged.

I have never been convicted of anything but I would be upfront with the employer about it. Depending on what you were convicted for they may still hire you. I had to be fingerprinted, pass backroad checks including those in the FBI databases. They can go back as far as they want to. Perhaps you’d best bet would be to speak to a lawyer and see what you can do to get it off your record. Things like that unfortunately don’t disappear after a certain number of years.

My husband was convicted of a felony at 18 and he appealed his case through the clerk's office and because he hadnt had any more convictions they took it off his record last year. He just turned 30, so it was something like 9 years or so on his record. We live in KY if that helps.
