Update: so baby girl is head down but on track to be over 9lbs at 40weeks. My son got stuck at 7lbs so naturally there is cause for concern. I do not have gestational diabetes and have only gained 29 lbs, also she is fine she is just a big baby. I am going to be induced at 39 weeks no matter what, but there is a high probability of a c-section because her abdomen is measuring in the 96% so the odds of her shoulders getting stuck once her head is out are very good. I have another ultrasound scheduled at 38weeks to confirm all of this and if she is still measuring this way the induction will be changed to a c-section. I am terrified at the thought of surgery. Since 2015 I have had 7 surgeries, I am so tired of being cut open. And this one scares me more than all of them. I am also really sad because I wanted so much to get to hold her right away and feed her right away and bond, now I wont even be able to hold her until after. My son was born with a fever after being stuck while I had group b strep, and they showed him to me for 3 seconds before taking him away to the NICU. I cried so much because I didn't even get to touch him. I was so excited about this time being able to actually hold my baby right away and make that connection, bonding with my son was so hard after I wasn't allowed to see him until hours later and didn't even remember what he looked like. I am overwhelmed with emotions right now, any c-section mamas have any advice or words of encouragement? I could sure use some right now.

I never had a c section. But wanted to wish you luck and I hoping everything will turn out fine. Stay positive and pretty soon you will be holding your little one soon.
I gave birth to a 9lbs baby at 41 weeks gestation no diabetes and gained the same weight as you did. Anything is possible :)

I had a C-section with my first because he was also big (no gestational diabetes). People kept saying that the measurements were probably off and that having a C-section was a waste, but he was born at 10 lb 9.5 oz at 39 weeks. Afterwards, the surgeons told me that because of the size of his body and shoulders, they are almost certain he would have had gotten stuck and become brain dead. He just turned 6 and I can’t fathom how differently my life would be if that had happened 😳 My C-section was actually great! I got to snuggle him immediately, and I was out grocery shopping 2 days later! My recovery was way easier than it was with my two following VBACs (mostly because I tore something fierce, although they were great too). People will tell you all kinds of things, but my best advice is to go with your gut and also take into consideration the doctors’ advice. They’ve done this a million times, and are giving you their best advice for the safety of you and your baby. To me, the method of delivery is much less important than having a happy, healthy baby. :) Good luck! 🍀

2x c-sections.
I guess I lucked out because literally as soon as I was out of the OR I was holding and nursing my son. It is super nerve wrecking, especially since you are awake, but once it’s over, it’s amazing. You know that and that will be what gets you through.
As far as recovery, please take the pain meds, move as much as your body lets you and still remember to take it easy. I hope you don’t have to have a c section, but it’s going to be okay! 💕💕

Also, remember sometimes measurements can be off. My oldest was a big baby and I had GD with both. But my youngest was a whole pound smaller. My oldest also got stuck which was why I had a c section the first time haha

I had my 38 week appointment and I was told the same thing. My babe's belly is measuring >99% and measured 9.5lbs right now 😳 I'm measuring 44 weeks. Other ladies on my post said they were told large bby as well and ended up with normal size. It's nerve wrecking. Look into gentle C-section and see if your doctor is willing to do any of it. It's very possible to have skin to skin even though you have to get one. Good luck mama, we might be in the same boat. You aren't alone 💛

I’m normally a 90 lbs small framed girl no taller then 5 ft 2 I somehow managed to push a 9.5 lb baby out I wouldn’t worry too much

Hoping they go thru with the induction. If you do end up having a C-section tho, write up a birth plan anyway and state that you want to do skin-to-skin as soon as they clean her off and that you want to nurse her while in recovery. Not all hospitals will allow this, but definitely worth mentioning just in case they do.
