Calvin was three days old and I looked at him crying on the bed. I myself started bawling. I was in so much pain from giving birth and I felt like I tried everything I could to get him to stop crying. Honestly, I felt like I forgot how. How do I be a mom to a new baby?! What else can I do?

That strong willed baby is the same child today at 3 years old as he was at 3 days old. It’s funny now, I didn’t forget how to be a mom, he just knows exactly what he wants and truly doesn’t need me as much as I think. He is good at taking care of the rest. He literally asks for broccoli daily. He eats all of his food, he plays on his own. He is extremely content (now). He has carried around a stuffed dog for the last 3 years through airplanes, stores, and even a cruise, and hasn’t lost it!

I used to google anything I could to help with a colicky, acid reflux baby that refuses to sleep. No amount of crying it out, swaddling, gas drops, or any other method the internet advised would work on this child. He was held for 2.5 years and slept in his parents bed that was literally made into a crib! My one small piece of advice is this - Hold your baby. Because, I don’t carry him around anymore. He can do it himself. I didn’t spoil him. I didn’t teach him bad habits. I did what his tiny heart needed and he couldn’t ask. I held him. It was simple, no amount of googling told me that. My mother’s intuition did.
👩🏼
If we all had more faith in ourselves and stopped worrying about what the internet says or what people around us say, I truly believe we will be happier and more content. Love you my little Cal, I am so happy he got through those hard years together. 💋
