To the mom's who had c sections twice. Which for you was the worst one with healing and moving time. Did you get an epurdial or a spinal tap? My first was an emergency c section with an epurdial (needed 2 because the first came out) and I'm seriously considering a second c section with a spinal tap. Also how do they do a spinal tap is it the same an en epurdial?

The first was the hardest. I've gotten a spinal block each and every time. A spinal block is just a needle they give you in your back. A spinal epidural is similar to the epidural as they leave the tube in during the procedure. I'll be having my 4th C-section in 45 days. My first was the absolute hardest bc your music aren't used to that trauma. Repeat C-sections are easier to bounce back from. I can honestly say that my last csection was the easiest (even tho there was an 11 year gap in between #2 & #3). I was home and comfortable after being in the hospital only 2 days.

@kason.dylons.mamma oh wow. I can't imagine. If you elect for another C-section, make sure they know you want a spinal block so you won't feel ANYTHING. They should also make sure you can't move your lower half or feel anything before they begin. Not sure why they didn't before. So sorry you went thru that tho.

@soon2bmommyof4 well I was in labor for 39+ hours and already pushed for 3.5 hours so I was already so tired and wore out that when they gave me meds I couldn't determine if they worked or not because I was so weak. On top of my son being super distressed and both of us losing oxygen so it really time wasn't on our side. I'd rather pass out from the pain than my son die . I'm definitely telling them I want a spinal though.

@kason.dylons.mamma oh wow. Sorry to hear that. That's a lot to go through and then end up having a C-section on top of it. Hopefully this one will go smoothly.

I’ve had 2 planned c-sections because my first was breeched. I’ve had a spinal block with both. The first one went ok my baby was hard to remove so she had some bruises around her vagina and butt. I also had a lot of blood loss in the recovery room but didn’t need a transfusion. The recovery was pretty easy for me. I was up and walking the next day. The second c-section I decided to do just because I’ve already had one it went smoothly no excessive bleeding and I was walking in the evening (had the baby in the morning) I feel I was a little more brave the second time around so I bounced back really fast. Of course there’s some pain involved it’s major surgery but nothing unbearable. I was in the hospital 3 nights with each baby. With the second, one day after I got out of the hospital we went to a park sat at a picnic table and had a BBQ.

I can’t speak to recovery from a c-section, but a spinal is used with most repeat, scheduled sections. A spinal goes in the same area as an epidural. It’s just a one time injection of anesthetic agents as opposed to a catheter with a continuous flow of medication.
