When do babies start to hold their head and sit up. My little girl just turned 1 month old and all she does is sleep. Is it too early for tummy time. She is a month behind in development due to being born 6 weeks early. She isn’t 40 weeks gestation until February 7th

Right after I had both of my kids, they could hold and lift there head up..every baby is different though, I didn't do tummy time for a few weeks after they were born though..

Tummy time actually helps them with the neck muscles. We started tummy time as soon as the umbilical stump came off. He could lift his head some by about two weeks, and sitting is much later, like 3/4 months.

But if your doctor recommends waiting on tummy time because she was early, that's fine too. They just don't really learn to hold their head up much without it, and you risk them getting a flat head if they're on their back too much. (My nephew had a flat head and wore the helmet for 5/6 months.)

It’s never too early for tummy time I did it the day we brought him home from the hospital my son started getting his neck strong and holding it when he was asking 3 months and he’s now barely sitting up

Honestly, that's up to you and your doctor's decision. I wasn't comfortable doing it until my little one was able to hold his head up more.

Our dr said to start tummy time as soon as we brought him home from the hospital. I think you could definitely start with your daughter as long as there isn’t medical issues stopping you.
