My hospital actually let me eat! They fed me breakfast and lunch while I was in labor. My husband left the hospital and got me a blizzard from Dairy Queen because I was craving it. We were walking the halls eating our blizzards while I was 5 cm dilated and having contractions every 2 minutes. I had my daughter 3 hours later. 😊 Every hospital is different.
Because if you end up requiring an emergency Csection it can be risky if you’ve eaten. Just like you can’t eat before surgery they don’t like you eating during labour as a precautionary measure. Most women throw up during labour at some point anyways but that has nothing to do with the rule itself. I’m an L&D nurse clear fluids and juice only during labour it’s a pretty common rule.
Because you throw it back up. Happens to pretty much every one.

I have ever have thought “oh I fancy a cookie” during labour 😂🙈or any sort of food for that matter. Like above ya said incase of emergency xx
