Do any of you mamas breast feed and give breast milk in a bottle? When did you use the bottle? How often did you pump? I'm trying to get myself on a schedule. 🤔
I believe I started pumping and gave her a bottle at about 2-3 weeks. I started out pumping 1-2x a day and freezing milk for when I returned to work but also saved some in the fridge so that my SO could help with feedings as well. It was honestly hard to fit in pumping at times so I just skipped it sometimes. It’s really not a big deal. So don’t stress so much about needing to have an exact pumping schedule. Now that I’m back to work i pump 3x a day and use that milk for the following day.
Hey, you’re doing a great job! The questions and concerns you have prove that! My boy refused to latch a lot when I applied nipple cream hours before, so that’s a reason too I just had to pump. My doula told me “there’s no mom shaming in just pumping. As long as your baby has your attention, you’re doing skin to skin, and your baby is clearly loved, you are doing a wonderful job. The point of breastfeeding is to of course feed the baby but also to bond. As long as you’re bonding, you’re doing great”
You’ve got this girl. You’re the best qualified, and the only one qualified to take care of your little girl. No one could do it better than you.
I started pumping when he was five days old. Sadly, I got mastitis and feeding him just by me was so extremely painful I would bleed. So now I just pump and he only gets my milk through the bottle. I pump every 3-4 hours. My husband loves it, he gets to feed our boy too.
@aliciaanewsome thankyou so much. Nobody really explained anything to me at the hospital and I kind of feel like I'm doing a crap job sometimes and kind of lost. I just want to make sure she's eating enough and she doesn't always want to latch on.
