At the time of his death, #MLK was not upheld affirmatively as the leader he is today. He was seen as too radical, direct action was overwhelmingly seen as lacking civility.

At the great suggestion of @rachel.cargle & @ihartericka, I have listed and linked to some of my favorite black-led organizations doing great movement work. Please go and learn more. Donate if you are able! Add some of your own!

Morning Affirmation: Instead of posting a quote to remember Dr. King, let’s commit to doing the work to further the legacy of Dr. King. When we only teach about the man with a dream, we fail to tell the whole truth. Today *and every day,* let’s honor the man who broke laws and invested in justice over his own comfort. We have a responsibility to dismantle the systems of injustice. It starts with us. #MLK #MLKDay2019 #martinlutherkingjr #martinlutherking #keepshowingup #stayhuman
