Does anybody know much about low blood sugar levels ? My diabetes test is Friday. But the doctor told me to check my blood sugar to see what it was. I had my aunt do it. Doctor told me it should be 170-200 right after I ate. 140-160 2-3 hours after I ate. And that if I didn’t eat then it should be 80-100. I got sick on my way to my aunts so I ate. Then I checked it 30 mins after eating and it was 103. Instead of 170 range like she suggested normal would be.
I’m a diabetic. I control mine with diet now but 3 years ago insulin was my best friend because metformin is my enemy.
That 140-160 2-3 hours after you eat is a bit high to be honest. It should be sitting at that 80-100 2-3 hours after eating and 140-160 at 30 minutes to an hour afterwards. If you’re sick you could get a high or a low depending on what it is that you ate as well. Heavy carbs spike blood sugar, not enough carbs can make you suffer a low.
Honestly it from what I’m reading here you’ll do fine on your glucose test, but what gets a lot of people is your fasting number is too high, so this week have a healthy snack before bed so you don’t suffer from pre dawn ketones and end up with a high fasting number, which depending on the doctor is anything over 100. Carrots and hummus, crackers and peanut butter or cheese work well to maintain normal levels overnight. Good luck!
@fairykarmamomma, thank you ! I hope my test is good! I don’t want any issues with this pregnancy like I had with my last one. I ate two bean burritos 30 mins before checking it. So I expected it to be some higher than 103. But I’m going to stay positive an maybe my test will come back good lol.
@kayla.lawson, it’s very likely you were suffering from a low and the food brought you back on track to a pretty perfect. That does happen too.
i have hypoglycemia. my blood sugar sits at a normal range of 70 and will sometimes go down into the 50s. 103 isnt a bad bloodsugar at all its a pretty normal one .
I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. My fasting sugar was supposed to be in the 60-95 range. And 1 hr after eating a meal it was supposed to under 140. So 140-160 2-3 hours after a meal seems very high to me 🤔 I’m not a doctor of course, but that’s when I would talk to other doctors for second and third opinions.
