Any mom's here having back issues from the epidural? Smh I really don't want to get it. But who wants to be in pain? Yeah I know it's not permanent pain, but everyone's pain tolerance is different. And just because a mother chooses to get pain medication doesn't make her less of a mother. Everyone's telling me do it natural. This is my first pregnancy, what if I can't do it? 😔 #NeedSomeAdvicePlease

I didn’t want to get an epidural - I was scared as well. But at some point it started to feel like one super strong and super painful contraction, so I ended up asking for it! My back was only sore for the first few days, but then it was not just my back lol It turned out not nearly as bad as I had imagined.

Nope. After about two weeks in the hospital the fixed the spinal fluid leak. (the frst one didnt take and they had to do another one) but after i was better and stuff i still had terrible back pain for about two years. But thats Probly because i had an extra two long needles in my spine to fix the epidural (they had to take blood from my wrist and pump the blood back into the hole from my epidural to "patch it back up")

I’ve had 1 epidural and 3 naturals following. I actually wanted an epidural again but I was 8 cm and knew there was no point or time. I think do whatever makes you happy. Going natural is all about mindset.

I had a terrible experience with the epidural. Google spinal fluid leak from failed epidural. Worse pain of my damn life. My second was natural birth with no pain meds. Hurt but i did it. I was NOT EVER gonna get a epidural again in my life. Not worth it to me.

I had a spinal fluid leak too!!!! I couldn’t even lift my head up for a week because I felt like someone was stabbing me in both sides of my head. I even had the procedure to go back in there and clot up the leak with my own blood and it failed 😩 but I would still get another epidural if I have another baby lol silly me.

I got the epidural and I have no back issues. However I want to try and go natural this time around. I believe now that I’ve experienced labor and I know what to expect and I know to trust my body that I may be able to try harder to go natural. I don’t regret getting the epidural at all though. I was able to nap almost 3 hours during labor which gave me the much needed I needed to push because I had been laboring all night. Honestly I feel like until the time has come you won’t know what you’re going to do. Everyone has a birth plan but things change and labor doesn’t always go as expected so just believe you should trust your body and so what feels right in the moment.

I got an epidural at 6 cm both times and my back is fine. No issues at all. Labor is AWFUL. The epidural is the best thing ever. It allowed me to nap and be fully rested for my baby. I will choose an epidural over and over again. It’s entirely up to you though. Don’t let anyone bully you into a decision.

Go to film on birthintobeing.com and watch the little trailer called Birth As We Know It. Don’t be alarmed by the woman who seems to be having an “orgasm” during her contractions. What’s actually happening is the biological function of surrender to what the body needs to do so this pain then becomes what it actually is when it isn’t being rejected. Fighting the body is what causes pain. Breathing and being one with your body is what creates that feeling of ecstasy. I know that look on her face as something divine and not sexual. It’s pure and so very beautiful. Open your heart and mind to the possibility of enjoying labor and birth rather than resisting the experience in fear 💛

I had a natural labor but I think the best advice I was given was by a friends mom who had had 5 kids. The advice was:
If you are progressing rather quickly and can handle the pain don't get it. If you are in labor for hours and not progressing very fast get it.

I had it in my head that I was going to go natural but I wasn't completely against getting an epidural if I felt I needed it. I'm trying to keep the same mind set this time.

I think this is what I might choose as well. I'm going to at least attempt to try and handle the pain. But if I'm in labor long and not progressing then I'm going to get it.

I've still got back pain at the site where it was inserted now two years later. The first day it was out sucked and I couldn't really be on too many pain meds because I was breastfeeding. I got it because of stress on my body and my son's heart rate was all over the place and the doc said it would help calm things down. It did but now every time I bend I'm reminded of where the epidural was placed.

I haven't had any issues from epidural or spinal block. I also didn't think negatively about it which can make a huge difference in your psyche about the entire experience

Unfortunately we’ve been led to believe that labor is painful which is why we allow it to be painful. In reality, contractions should actually be felt as pressure and when we surrender to this pressure and what our bodies need to do by moving, dancing, spiraling and squatting, even sitting in warm water, this “pain” goes away and can actually become pleasurable. Labor was never meant to be painful. This was fed to us by patriarchy to keep women disempowered during something that is so naturally biological, healing and life transforming.

I had back problems for about a year after I got the epidural. To me it was worse than the actual labor pain because it was everyday and I couldn’t quite bend. Idk if I’m doing it this pregnancy but do what’s best for you at the end of the day. Everyone is different.

I went in with the mindset of going drug-free. My mom had told me again and again to get an epidural because she didn’t want me to suffer. I ended up getting it because I was induced and wasn’t dilating so I was tired. It was a great relief and I had no side effects. I think I will get it again this time.
