My aunts mother in laws name is Roberta and they call her Bobby too and Ive never understood it lol

Well my ex husband family doesn't want to call my son by his name which is Michael Robert so they call him Bobby

Lol I don’t know my mom’s friend’s husband is named Robert and everyone calls him Robby so I get that nickname because it makes more sense but I went to school with a Robert and everyone called him Bobby even the teachers called him Bobby but I never understood it, maybe because there is a B in Robert everyone says Bobby but I think Robby makes more sense.
