I really hope I can breastfeed when the baby comes home. ☹️
@chasinghappiness, it definitely is possible to get them to switch over but it is hard work and rather.. depressing for the mom to have your baby cry at your breast. 🤣 Now I can kinda laugh about it but I was so upset during the time. I recommend trying a nipple shield and also when she is home get a special bottle that makes her work more. I got these bottles that had two nipples that required suction and compression to get milk and I think that helped me as well.
@gecko_mom, will you be able to send me a link for the bottles or the name?
My son wasn’t in the NICU that long (just a week) but I was pumping around the clock and when he came home he had a big case of nipple aversion since the flow was so much different than the cheap ones they used in the hospital. It took me 7 weeks but I finally got him to breastfeed and now we are going nearly 2 years strong. I won’t lie I was close to giving up but if you are good with pumping and keeping your supply up I believe you can do it! 💕
