Has anyone else felt like they lost both parents after only one dies? My dad died in a car wreck a couple years ago and ever since it seems like my mom went too. She never acted like a mother anymore and she can’t seem to find happiness in anything. She seems like she can’t love anything anymore since dad died. Like she can’t love herself, her kids, nothing. She constantly says things to hurt my feelings and break my heart. It’s awful.. it’s like reliving the death of them everyday because you know why they act the way they do or even when they started (after he died) and it’s like mourning for two parents but one is still here to say mean stuff and break your heart again and again. It’s so toxic and mentally abusive man.. 😔

My mom died in 2013 from colon cancer, and my father died four months later in September. He had a heart attack while he was driving and i immediately knew he died from a broken heart after my mom died he wasn’t the same. Depressed barely ate barely talked, he would go to work come home and go to sleep.

It definitely sounds like she's depressed and she's not handling it well. I'm sorry your going through this. Have you tried talking to her? I lost both my parents 5 months apart so I understand how you feel even though for me they are both actually gone.

Has anyone suggested to her that she get help? Offer to take her to therapy or psychiatrist? That sounds like severe depression.

This happened to my parents, my dad was killed in a plane crash when I was 14 and my mom pretty much lost her mind, even though they were getting a divorce.
