So my son is delayed with talking. He’s 18 months and only days mama, dada, & yeah. Any ideas on how to get him to talk more?! I read to him all the time.

Sounds like a boy thing! Haha my son is the same way, maybe 5 words but is starting to say more and more or making the sounds/mimicking. My problem, and I'd bet yours too is the older sibling talking for him. We just make an extra effort and repetition, none of the docs showed concern thus far and its comforting seeing others with the same issue! Hard not to compare the kids though, I know!

As I seen another mom suggest, sign language seems to really help kids . My nephew had trouble talking for a while & sign language helped him tremendously ! He’s talking so good now . & it doesn’t hurt to know sign language in life so why not ?!

Speech delayed/disability mom here. Just some suggestions to try: work on individual sounds versus whole words, building your way up to words. Incorporate sign language where possible, helps with frustration and teaches that they need to communicate to get what they want (ball, milk, foods, etc). Encourage communication through rewards - for example, don’t hand him a toy until he says the first letter or syllable (dependent on his ability). The YouTube channel Super Simple for babies/kids helped my son learn a lot. He loved the songs and we’d work on singing them, one noise at a time. My son is almost 3 and we’ve been in speech therapy for almost a year. It’s helped a lot but he still has struggles.

Flash cards, do you have any speech groups around your area? My son is also 18months and doesn’t talk but if I say “say car” he will say “da” 🤷🏻‍♀️he tries x

My son will be 3 in april and he is just now picking up on words and copying what we say. He was so stubborn but we let him take his time and when he was ready. I will say he watches videos on YouTube like shapes and colors and songs. That helps
