My husband and I will be checking into two different day cares Monday. Ones a church day care and the other is a home day care.
What are some things we should be looking for when we go?
Also what are some questions we should make sure we ask?

Ask about ratios. Also watch and see how sanitary they’re. Watch the teachers and see how they interact with the kids.

These answers will help give more questions...
Number of staff and children (ratios), ages of other children, how are children grouped (all together or by age/ability), example of daily schedule, hours (how early is drop off/how late is pick up), payment (when is payment due, how much)

ask about nap schedules and spaces. Will they follow his sleep schedule or put him down and wake him at certain times? Where will he sleep?

I googled questions to ask and came up with a really good list. I printed it out and wrote down their answers.

A lot of great suggestions on this post already. I asked about their emergency procedure for fires, earthquakes (we have them here), etc. I also asked about cpr certification, specifically infant cpr cert. I asked about their vaccination policy (didn’t want my infant around unvaxxed kids sorry not sorry). I asked about feeding/foods — how often they feed an infant, when they’re older if they provide meals or if I do. Ask to see their sleeping spaces to make sure they’re flat, firm, etc.
Your state dept of health and human services should have a website where you can request copies of inspection reports or complaints filed for any licensed daycare in the state.

Yeah I’ve been looking at the website and seeing the reports. Some are very scary lol

When I was looking at options, I made sure to take an unscheduled tour during normal hours so I could see the adults and other kids in action. One place only did scheduled tours and that made me nervous.
In my experience, even after choosing the place I liked best (a home daycare), I was still nervous about sending my daughter there. I think that’s just part of being a mom.
