So i have a consultant app on the 9th... i was told today because the usual consultant is on maternity leave ill only get my date on the 9th for my induction... but not a diabetic birth plan.... if the consultant isnt comfortable on dealing with a diabetic birth plan... 😑 so so long.... than ill have to be seen again by another consultant the week after 😑 why dont they train or make these consultants comfortable enough to deal with gestational diebieties...

How annoying! I felt the same with my hospital being strep b positive, after I rang to say my waters had broke they had to read the guidelines and call me back! Ended up going in and being induced to speed up the contractions but I think they panicked and just wanted him out safe as soon as possible 🤷♀️

Its just so jarring... they should train these people correctly and have good back up when the usual people are off sick or holidays...

They will all have their specialist subjects, there is a lot of obstetric complications, better for patients to be an expert in fewer fields than a novice in them all.

Yes but i only need one that knows about gd not anything else so they should book me with the right person instead of me going in twice... so i know they specialise on different areas but i dont see the point in having an app with someome that isnt comfortable with gd if thats the only reason im high risk... like it dont make sense

Coz itll be a waste of an appointment lol... and my birth plan will probably be thrown out the window like the last 2 times... so as long as i get my date they can do my birth plan alone thats what ill tell them, as long as me and my child are safe they can do anything lol
