I was able to move from Richmond to Vegas no problem but I had no kids.... go on classifieds
I had a job before I got out there and an got a apt too and the same day I moved it did everything over fax and phone...
This was in 2010 to 2013

Move during tax season find a place pay it off for a couple months and find a job asap
