New York is expensive, taxes and just the general cost of living are high. That is a huge reason why we left NYS. I would definitely consider making a pros and cons list. Definitely make sure you have support where ever you go, or within a reasonable distance.

If you have family you enjoy seeing and want to have in your child's life I would definitely consider how far of a drive or on average what you would spend on flights. It's also nice if you already have existing family in one of those areas. My husband and I moved about 5 hours away from my family and now that I'm pregnant it's been very difficult not having that support here. The idea of moving away from family and friends was a lot easier to swallow when I wasn't actually in a new area with no family or friends. Other than that, I'd say check out costs of living, school districts and what's available for housing. Those things determined where we bought our house!
