I need some opinions and tips!
I'm trying to explain to my SO why I believe his son has anger issues. My SO says oh he needs more time with him, or it's because his mom doesn't actually put her foot down.
No matter how you discipline him, how much time you spend with him, the moment he doesn't get his way he goes to screaming, hitting, and throwing stuff. I had a car almost hit me in the face today, and then when my SO went back to work from lunch break, his son was throwing shoes at the window since he was mad!
I'm so afraid myself, my son, or the baby could end up hurt. He also doesn't handle my son being around well, so I'm terrified how it's going to be once the baby is here.
Usually I take both of our boys to daycare when my SO is at work. But my son was sick all night, and I was too exhausted to drive. So I chose to keep both of them home.
Would you guys agree it seems to be more anger problems over socialization and the other parent? My SO has him 40/60. So we have him quite a bit. And we try to be patient. But I'm getting sooo worried. I even said I think it's time we talk to his mom together and see what all of us can come together and to do stop this before it gets even more out of hand, he had no response to that.

How long have you been in the child's life. If you and your son are new to the situation I would back off but give your SO an ultimatum. Resolve the issue with his son or you're out. I would not let this situation escalate in a blended family environment. It only gets worse from here. If you've been in this child's life for a while now I would just reach out to the child's mother yourself. Please be patient with the child though he may be acting out which is not unusual for children in blended homes

@ejwsmomma120215 he's 4 and please do not take this personally at all but it's been 4 months. His father probably isn't concerned because he knows his son's previous behavior and knows what he's doing now. It sounds like he's acting out for attention. Use positive reinforcement and be patient. If the behavior continues maybe try to talk his father into therapy to help him adjust better

we've been together 4 months. But myself and my son have been around a lot for a year. His attitude gets worse the more he's at his moms. Then he comes here and is nearly.umcontrollable.

it's hard for him. He's got different rules at different place because his parents don't have consistent rules. It's not unusual for blended kids to come back misbehaving for one person's house. His mom probably has the same trouble over there. Just be consistent with both kids since they're around the same age. And like I said it the behavior continues or gets worse suggest therapy.

How old is your stepson? Ive most definitely been in your situation before and ive seen the horrible repercussions bc the dad/mom doesn't want to look at the full picture and see a problem. I love my bonus kids like my own but was always told "its not you kid, not your problem" by her mom.. And her dad said the same as yours that he needed more time with her. We tried it all for years. Way more to the story but in the end.. trust me you dont want what my bonus daughter is going through to happen to yours. If you think theres a problem, address it with your husband and take action from there. Early intervention is key at this point! Wish i would of listened to my gut instinct with mine! ❤ good luck!! ❤❤

@ejwsmomma120215 I dealt with a lot of situations with my daughter. It ended up being precocious puberty for us but any behavioral problems can be a strain on all involved. I'd mention it to your husband with the excuse of school starting soon, or even asking him to bring it up to the pediatrician and seeing what their thoughts would be.

@ejwsmomma120215 oh girl you dont even know how close to home you hit there! Yes! I know exactly how you feel!! Mine always took it as a personal attack whenever i tried to tell either if them anything to help my step daughter! Definitely early intervention is your friend right now! I really hope it works for you all!

@vanilla_momma thank you! It's nice knowing someone else understands and that I'm not crazy! I love that boy as if he was my own, I'd never say or do anything to hurt him or his relationship with his mom or dad.

It could be either or both honestly. Would he consider a behavioral therapist? My five year old uses one and she's been absolutely amazing. Not only will it help give the child the correct tools but they'll also give parents help in handling specific behavior and problems. It should interest the mom as well and it's a nice way to ask if she's noticing or having the same problems/concerns.

I'll have to ask him about that. I feel like it'd be fantastic for him and help a lot.

Then no- given the age it is not anger issues. I agree with your SO. Try gentle parenting solutions, one on one time and consistency.
