It depends when my 5 year old was younger he’d get chronic ear infections. Every time he’d come down with anything I’d take him in. 99% of the time he’d have an ear infection .
No I don’t go to the dr for every single illness. Most the time that’s a complete waste of everyone’s time, and you’re putting all the people who HAVE to see the dr at risk of catching something else. My son only stays home for fever or vomiting. Neither of which need to be seen for unless fever lasts more than 4 day or won’t go down at all, or vomiting causes dehydration.
My son has asthma and when he has a cough/cold his asthma flares up really bad, to where I have to keep him home. He has to have breathing treatments but I already have the machine and the meds for it so don't really see the point in going to the doctor, because they just tell us to do the breathing treatments. But then I feel like the school is going to think I'm keeping him home for no reason. It's so stressful.
Have you spoke with the dr and maybe when this happens they can email a note to the school explaining why he has to stay home? Unfortunately kids only get so many absences.
We only keep them home when they have fevers or throwing up. If that's the case then we take them to the doctor or talk to the nurse at the doctors office and see what they suggest.
