Yeah doctors don’t test for folate levels because there are other more accurate tests to diagnose anemia in pregnancy. Folic acid is crucial before and during pregnancy.

Weird because site says they do in BC and I’ve been having symptoms and issues but I just got my iron up to mild anemia and used to have b12 anemia so I’d still rather be safe and know tbh

I’m from B.C went to university in Victoria and worked at VGH on L&D. My oldest son (8) was born in Victoria. They have not and don’t check folate levels in early pregnancy it’s not routine UNLESS there’s indication of a need to warrant it. Your routine prenatal work does and will check for anemia which they should have done or will be doing if your 9 weeks along (depending on when your first prenatal appt is) Also your required prenatal vitamins will contain the suggested amount of folic acid in the daily dosage. Testing for folate is not a reliable way of determining B-12 deficiency.
Although you can test folate levels it’s not routine in the prenatal screen so I’m not sure what site your referring to but if your worried speak to your GP or OBGYN ❤️
