Does anyone know anything about getting a parent checked into mental health facility in georgia. Ive heard its free. My dad who ive met maybe 20 times my whole life has given up on life and is down to 100lbs and covered in scabies and bed bugs and was found unresponsive today from what my aunt posted on facebook. When i messaged her she basically said shes waiting on him to die.

Contact your local social services center... there should be an adult protective service department if you can find and speak with a caseworker. Was he hospitalized? If so there should be a hospital social worker you can speak to.

No he wasnt hospitalized defacs sent a home nurse to check on him. Im trying to find out who his old caseworker was. Im going to call tomorrow and see what i can find out

Yes, ma'am I can help. The first issue is that he is not healthy enough to be admitted into mental health (10-13 or otherwise). I worked ER many years ago. We had very sick people come in who needed mental health admission. The first issue was making sure they were healthy enough to be admitted (no infectious diseases, etc). He has scabies and bed bugs. He would have to first be healed of all this before being admitted for mental health.

We have him admitted now. Hes in isolation. Apparently he had a really bad infection which caused a super high fever and he was in a coma. Im hoping the hospital has some services they know of that can help me further

Update* He had an array of different drugs in his system causing him to think he had scabies and bed bugs. He has been checked and no sign of them. However he thought they were crawling under his skin and the infection that caused the fever is from where hes scratched deep gashes all over himself. Hes bandaged up and is receiving antibiotics. Theyve told me the only way to get him into the mental health institution is if he signs for himself or we show his doctor he is a danger to himself and he signs off on it. This is rough for me hes my father yet I dont know how to feel because ive never really known him. I just want him to find help
