So I found out my daughter has an upper lip tie. Did or does any of your babies or children ever have one? Did you get it snipped? Her pediatrician recommended I get it done due to having troubles with breastfeeding and it effecting her speech when she’s older. I’m just nervous 😟

My two youngest had upper lip ties. My 4 yr old we didn’t revise because he couldn’t bf for one reasons. My two year old had a tongue tie also so we had the tongue tie revised. The ENT said there’s contradictory information about clipping so we left it to see if the just the tongue tie was the issue and it was. He ended up ripping his on his own at about 13 months. So. Much. Blood 😮 but many kids do.

I highly recommend an IBCLC to see if it needs to be revised.

@lanesevalencia, have you seen... I forget what they’re called, a nurse about breastfeeding? It took me a bit it help her latch, we used a nipple shield for a couple days till we both got the hang of it. If it just seems like she’s nursing often she maybe be in a growth spurt, cluster feeding is hard but I don’t remember when that starts... sorry if that doesn’t help.

@lanesevalencia my 8 month old has one I decided not to get it clipped because her doctor said as long as she's eating she was fine but that if when she gets older & we decide its causing issues we could get it done then.

Yes 😔. I know a lot of women are able to push through with breastfeeding if their child is tongue or lip tied. You could get a second opinion. His old pediatrician said the same thing.

@addysmama81715, she can nurse but I don’t think she’s getting everything, she seems to never be satisfied after feedings, and when I pump I’m getting 4 oz so I’m not sure if that is causing a poor latch causing her to not get all of the milk out

My son was tongue tied and we got him clipped at 3 weeks old. I had trouble with breastfeeding even after and he has a small speech problem. Idk if it made a huge difference.

My middle child has one and I never got it clipped she’s 7 and has had no issues. Breastfeeding was a bit painful in the beginning but that only lasted a few weeks.

My daughter has an upper lip tie and we didn’t do anything with it. Her pediatrician said that as long as she can nurse she’s ok 👍

@mommy_x3, do they have any speech or gaps between their teeth? I am leaning towards not getting it done but nervous my breastfeeding will not improve due to it
