My best friend who lives in Texas said she’s not getting on foodstamps and wic because it makes you “ lower class” any thoughts? I just thought it’s assistance especially if you’re a single mother🤷🏽♀️
If she’s not comfortable getting it then I’m not going to judge her for that. We qualified for WIC with our son but we didn’t get it. It was a personal choice. I don’t judge others for getting it either. To each his own.
Hahaha!! I believe she misunderstands the definition of "lower class." Tell her if financially she meets the income guidelines for foodstamps and wic then she's already considered lower class whether she go gets them or not lol! And that doesn't make you "low class" but what it will make her is dumb af if she allows her child to go without and there's assistance out there to help them.. Ijs.

Some days you're up and some days you're down. Unless she's rich or has been rich at one point, she doesn't have any basis for her statement. Most Americans are "lower class" technically speaking. Maybe she meant something else, like "low class"
The problem is not accepting government help when it's necessary, the problem is staying on government help after you're on your feet, or taking government help like it's your new career and you've earned what you're getting. Either way, if you need government help then you are lower class, upper class don't need it. And this class system is not stagnant, you can be upper today, lower tomorrow and vice versa. Still, no shame in needing help. And single mom is USUALLY lower class, if we wanna be technical
It doesn’t make you “lower class” to provide food for your babies and family. No one is better then anyone else and your friend has a terrible look on life if she believes that way, she needs to stop judging other people and look at her own heart because obviously it needs some work because wic and food stamps have help a lot of people who really need it, would she rather see babies and families go hungry or would she rather see healthy happy babies and families with food in their bellies? Yes there are people out there who abuse both wic and food stamps but those people who lied to get it will be facing God some day so don’t worry their time is coming.
Does she need the help? I think it depends I personally wouldn’t allow pride get in the way of me providing for my kids. I wish I could get some damn wic formula is not cheap luckily I have great friends and family who buy me milk and fruit ect with theirs but I wish I got it for myself.
@bvbychelle well unless your friend is a doctor, lawyer or some kind of CEO she is considered lower class. But to me lower class also consists of a person's lack of morals and how they live their lives.
Nothing wrong with getting help when needed. The goal is not to stay on government assistance and abuse it. Nothing about taking care of your family makes you “lower class”. Proud to have both so that I can provide for my family as I put myself through school.
