My son has some discharge in his ear and liquid fluid coming out ..is this normal? I won’t see his doctor till Wednesday...I posted pic in comment section

Does his doctor have an after-hours call line you could call and ask? I can't imagine dishcharge (that isn't the normal yellowy-waxy stuff) in an ear is normal...if they don't maybe your insurance does?

Doesn’t sound normal to me. What color is the fluid? I don’t see much from the picture but maybe I’m looking at it wrong. Does look like his little neck has a rash tho like a yeast infection from the folds of his skin. Does he seem to be feeling ok?
As nomli mentioned, there’s usually a 24/7 number to call after hours on the insurance cards.

It’s likely an infection and his eardrum may have perforated a bit due to pressure. This is a good thing, it means it won’t be too painful. What color is the drainage? Yellow tinged with pink is completely normal (for infected fluid). I’d still call the after hours line.

@ek620, not a lot of fluid...he hasn’t been tugging his ear at all. He’s been sneezing here and there and he sleeps fine.

@joselin.salazar47, It might be worth trying to get him seen sooner than Wednesday just in case. (I have an obscene amount of problems with my ears and see an ENT every other month.) This doesn’t seem consistent with an infection but that doesn’t mean it isn’t one. The ear shouldn’t leak any fluids. I don’t think it’s an emergency situation, but worth getting seen sooner if you can.

My youngest sons did this when his ear drum ruptured, but his was a lot and constant when he layed on that side.

You might wanna take him to the ER
