There has been so much going around about newborns dying from catching the HSV virus from people holding/kissing them.
My little girl is 2 weeks old today and her grandma has been around her and has a cold sore. I’m so afraid of her catching it. Of course it’s Friday night and I can’t call the doctor now until Monday.
They say it takes 2-12 days for symptoms to show. She was around her the day after she was born and yesterday for Thanksgiving.
Is there anything I can do to insure she doesn’t catch it at this point?! I’m wishing I wouldn’t have let her hold her. I’m freaking out! 😭

She should be fine if she wasn't kissed on the lips

I’m pretty positive she didn’t kiss her at all but not 100% sure. 😏

As long as she didn't kiss her on the lips, she should be fine. Meanwhile, breastfeeding your babe will strengthen her immune system. Lots of hand washing. I get cold sores and always keep those polysporin patches around because I feel like they at least cover up the sore. I've given a patch to my mom before too while she was around my baby just in case 😁
