Ugh I think my supposedly friend /housekeeper is taking advantage of me. We run this hotel & she pretty much gets paid per room plus laundry washed and folded. But for the past month she hasn’t came for work here and there for family reasons, no problem i can cover her rooms and fold her part of the laundry even tho I was sick & got paid for those rooms as well. So on thanksgiving day she was supposed to come work but didn’t because she wanted to get paid double for the day🥴 I feel like I’ve been doing a lot for her, letting her get paid for stuff she has been slacking on, and giving me short bs responses. Would I be wrong if I started cutting her rooms down? What do you guys think?

She doesn’t sound like a very reliable employee. You should definitely address this with her, and if she wants a job bad enough, she will do what you ask of her.

Lately she hasn’t, 😒 what she doesn’t know is that our boss is thinking of completely cutting her off.

Pay her like everyone else. If you don’t come you don’t get paid. She wouldn’t do all of that if y’all wasn’t friends

She’s not going to get paid for missed days or work she hasn’t done this paycheck. I’m not even close to bossy or mean so idk why she’s being like this.

Cut those rooms and give them to more reliable people. You can't properly do your job if you're doing hers!

@soweirditsnormal , as a business owner I believe in doing what's best for business... Nothing personal. I've fired a family member.. Hell my mom fired me back in the day lol! If you want to cut the rooms to give her the opportunity to redeem herself then I would but if that doesn't help just do what you feel is best. I gave my cousin the chance to redeem herself but she kept slipping up so I let her go.

at this point I’m just going to cut her off. Last paycheck was the only time I helped her out, thinking she would appreciate and make up for it but nah she’s those type of people unfortunately.

I ran hotels in the past, actually have a degree in business administration and you gotta keep business, business. Personal stuff or friendships obviously happens but when at work, I always kept it strictly business, but friendly. I had to learn the hard way bc I was the nice guy and always got walked on. When I became manager I had to toughen up fast, they all thought they could walk all over me and do half ass jobs. Sounds like your situation with your friend as well. I would let her go and have a discussion as to why. You cant put your job or business at risk for her not having any work ethic, love! Your employees is an extension of you and employees having an emergency and you covering them shows how much of a good boss you are, but some people take advantage of that unfortunately.. She sounds like one of them. Hope it turns around girl!!

I think I’m going to have to threaten her with her job, or find someone else. This happened last year too but worse. I’m not letting that happen again. That was the only paycheck I helped her out with, she obviously wasn’t grateful.
