Breastfeeding moms!! Do you guys use the nipple and the bottle or just put the milk in the bottle ?…

It depends on you and your baby. Some latch to your nipple easily. Others don’t. My son didn’t so we used bottles

My daughter had an excellent latch from the moment she was born. The problem was I never produced enough milk. I started supplementing with formula when she was 2 weeks old. We used Avent Naturals bottles and breastfed as well with no trouble.

My son latched in the first 5 mins of birth, by accident he just went for it when they laid him on my chest. Lol

We have been directly breastfeeding from day 1. We started bottles and pacis at 2.5 weeks old. He only gets 1 bottle at night so i can sleep and hubby can bond. We use the avent natural size 0 nipples (0 is better than size 1 for those who breastfeed so it comes out slower)

Pacis we started with the avent soothie pacis and just switched him for his age of 2 months through 18 months to the avent freeflow orthodontic paci.

He has had no trouble using all of these sucking methods. :)

To me it’s way easier nursing straight from your breast- no cleaning bottles, no pumping, just latch and go. It’s not really too bad doing all the night feedings either. Now with my first, that was the plan, but we had to supplement at birth- she was sick and my milk wasn’t enough, it took us a few months to get off formula completely. So I would pump what I could and mix the formula and breast milk or just formula and then put her at the breast when I could. It was what we needed to do, but so much more work in my opinion, again all the cleaning. And preparing and pumping and heating. But dad took some night feedings, which I needed, but again it was more complicated because of all the steps.

I’m going to start pumping a bit soon though, to get baby used to a bottle when I go back to work part time.

Note- every mom and baby are different! It’s not only mom learning the ropes, we forget baby is too! Since I’m more experienced this time around, I noticed when my son was born, when I needed to correct his latch, so I worked with him a bit. I had no idea how to do this with my first right off the bat!!!
