That one should be fine. Make sure your using the correct flange size too. That has a huge role in being able to express enough. Actually, I don’t pee as much as you would think. Because it’s all coming out in breast milk. Try setting an alarm on your phone, for every twenty minutes to remind you to take a big ol gulp of water! I have an alarm set to remind me to pump every 3 hours, even throughout the night. It is exhausting, believe me. But to me it is 1000% worth it. Also don’t stress. Just keep telling your self you’ve got enough milk. While pumping out your baby near you so you can look at him. :) I’m here If you need anything!

What type is it? Pump in style? Freestyle?
I drink anywhere from 300-600 oz of water a day.

Yes. He has only actually nursed about 5 times and he’s almost a month old. What pump did you get? It could be your not drinking enough water. You literally have to drink a TON! Try fenugreek...? To start off I would pump every 2 hours.

@cowgirl2790, did you pump from the beginning? Pumping for me isn’t successful I’ve been using the hand held one they give u in the hospital and I’m literally getting drops! My bf bought me the medela pump yesterday but it has to charge for 24hours hopefully this works😫

You ladies are doing great! Keep it up! Pumping and feeding is so much harder and more time consuming than attached breastfeeding. Kudos to you for some job well done. I'm ever so happy I haven't had to pump for baby 2.0 like I did for baby #1. Proud of you all! Keep it up!!!

My son was having latch issues. So I’ve just been pumping. My supply is doing just fine. (People say pumping won’t keep your supply up) but seems to be working for me🤷🏻‍♀️ I pump every 3 hours. Then I feed baby. He’s eating about two oz each feeding and I’m pumping 6 each time. So I freeze the “left overs” lol

@kpcharlie94 omg trust me I understand I honestly think if it wasn't for seeing my sister doing it every day while her babies were in the NICU idk if I would be where I am right now, seeing her determination to feed her babies made me want to do the same and it's so good for them. Because my sister had twins in June and they came 3 months early but with her breastmilk and her pumping as much as she could for them while they were in there until now, now they are going on 5 and a half months and they're both about 13-14 lbs, so amazing to see what we can do as moms, you got this if anything take a little break from putting your baby on your boob because I must say she tore my nipples up I was crying when I was ready to leave the hospital and I had an emergency csection so I was there for 6 days so breastfeeding with having no pump in the hospital was so tough but once you start pumping it out it might make it a hit easier for you and their latching really hurts too because they don't do it correctly at first and their mouths are so tiny too.. sorry for writing so much

@chellymariie, wow that’s really goals I literally decided I was gonna breast feed at like 7 or 8 months I didn’t do enough reading so everything is such a blur from wearing a bra to the raw nipples what pumps goes with which bottles 🤦🏼‍♀️

Girl I was having the same feeling last night my baby girl is going on 2 months now and when I first got home I was doing both breastfeeding and pumping now I'm just pumping and I swear I feel the same like it's a full time job.... it gets tough at times but I'm doing so good every time I pump I get 8-10 ounces each time and I just ordered a deep freezer to store all the milk i have because it became too much for my regular freezer, i have about 75 bags of 7 ounces each in the freezer and 70 ounces in the fridge for her feedings.. it's fun at times but don't give up do it for your baby 😊😉

@cake1219, I don’t think he’s getting enough milk because he’s cluster feeding. He’s turning his head to my breast every 20 mins

Cluster feeding isn't about them not getting enough. They actually are causing your body to produce more, rralizing they are ready to eat more. So definitely let hin eat when he is rooting no natter the time, and know it cqn hqppen now and thsn again as he gets bigger. My little guy cluster feeds during growth spurts.

Please do. I hope it helps. It's a detailed read but you can always pick what you need. Baby will always cluster feed in the first 6 weeks or so. It takes time for them to leave how to eat efficiently and their stomachs are so teeny tiny. The cluster feeding is less to do with hunger and more about establishing your supply. Though breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world it does not always come naturally and just as you are learning so is baby with you. This is definitely a team effort and success takes time. Don't get discouraged. Find a good lactation consultant and I promise you will do great! If you need any help reach out to any of us here or privately and I'm sure you will have no trouble building a support group!!!

@xryztalroze oh! And about the supply building, it's a supply and demand sort of thing. You can kind of think of it as baby priming a well. The more he suckles the more your body is stimulating the hormones needed for milk production. With priming you can't get water from even the fullest well. Our bodies are the same way. If you haven't tried it, lay on your side and feed baby laying down. Then it won't feel like such a "chore" and you can rest as he eats. When he is done with one side you can rollover and give him the other side. Then he can suckle as long as needed and you won't feel so stressed. It really is a more relaxed manner to feed. I have had to test different ways and have come up with what works for me at different times of day and places. Hope this helps!

I’m going to be honest at say the first 2-3 weeks are super super hard. But again hang in there and u will see how easy it is!! Good luck dear and congrats on the new babe!!

Please get the book "Breastfeeding Made Simple". It can help alot! Get a support system going. I promise it is worth the effort!!! Had to EP with my first and gave in to the stress at 7 month. Second baby is 6months and going strong. That book gave me the info I needed to redirect when I thought I couldn't do it any longer!!! Best wishes!!!

It gets so much easier if u can stick it out the first few weeks. You’re right though it’s actually more then a full time job. It’s 24/7. But I promise it gets so easy after a while!! Hang in there

@expectinggreatness aww thank you! Its wonderful! Each feeding i get 2-4oz and i feed him on demand. I pump once at night with a manual pump that gives me 6-8oz.
I do water, gatorade, and make homemade lactation cookies. Thats all. :)

@heilwife317, so you breast feed him directly from breast AND then get 2-4 ounces right afterwards from pumping ? Also sorry for all the questions but I need your expertise ... how do you make homemade lactation cookies ? Is haakaa manual pump?

@expectinggreatness no need to apologize i dont mind. i feed him on one side and put the haakaa on the other side. He doesnt switch sides, there is no need, but during a feeding you get a letdown from the opposite side and the haakaa catches it. You just suction it to your breast and are hands free. Riggt now i am typing, hes feeding on one side and its suctioning on the other. If you do a tight suction it is a catcher but also like a light hand express as well. So technically I do it at the same time as his feeding not after.
Lactation cookies- I will message you the recipe i use. :)

My milk didn’t come in until day 5. I was getting discouraged but it finally came in. Keep breast feeding and maybe try pumping for a few minutes after each feeding to help keep you stimulated .

Only three days? Don’t give up!!
If you have a pump, pump every two hours for 10 minutes each boob. Put it away until he wakes up. It helped with my flow & also to keep track of how much baby eats.

It’s definitely a lot . I am pumping and bottle feeding . I breast feed him 1–2 times a day . I pump 3-4 times a day and I get enough to feed him throughout the day and still have a little to freeze. Hang in there . It’s all worth it . 😅
