What do I do? My youngest who is 8 months has been in nursery since September, recently I’ve not been happy with the care being given and I don’t feel she is happy now like she was at the beginning. When I pick her up she’s not been cleaned, her tops are wet from water she’s been drinking, staff I talk to don’t have a clue what she’s done that day because her daily diary hasn’t been done, she’s not getting frequent nappy changes like I’ve asked as she had a sore bottom recently. I’ve already talked to her keyworker and the room leader who have said they will make sure this changes but it’s been 2 weeks now and there hasn’t been changes, I’ve tried to get in touch with the manager but she’s never there and doesn’t return my calls. I’ve started looking at other nurseries, she’s settled well in the one she is in just now I’m worried about how she would settle if i do put her in another one.

Talk to the manager of the nursery and if nothing changes. Put in a formal complaint.
If the manager is not in the building who is the deputy manager? Is the nursery privately owned or have a committee etc? Xx
Write down absolutely everything so you have evidence.

I’ve tried to talk to the manager but she’s never there when I go to collect Ruby or when I call, she never calls me back either, there is no deputy at the minute there recruiting one. It’s privately owned.

@zoe.d84 that's not right. There should always be a member of the management team in the building and then senior staff in the rooms. Get hold of their complaints procedure ( should be available on their website) and follow that. If nothing happens take it higher and to be honest I would remove her from there asap. I work in early years and they aren't meeting their standards let alone yours. Xx

Send an email with your complaint and say if you don't get a response in 24hrs you will be taking your daughter out and contacting Ofsted. That will get the managers attention. If THAT doesn't then I can only imagine they really don't care about your child's welfare or the outcome of an Ofsted visit (Ofsted have to visit if sent a complaint). In which case it's not a nursery you want to keep your daughter in.

I’m in Scotland so we don’t have ofsted but have similar I’ve already got an email ready and waiting to go to them, funny what you can think of to say at 2am. I’ve decided just to keep Ruby off today she’s not herself and I don’t want to send her in I don’t trust them to call me if she gets worse. Calling other nurseries today I think I will be pulling her out

Ask for meeting with the manager and your daughters key worker put it in writing and if the manager doesn't respond then take it higher to ofstead and keep records of how your daughter is collected wet clothes sore bum etc and that her record book isn't being completed. If your not happy trust your mummys instinct and move her x
