Moms I need some advice. My child has a speech delay. He’s gonna be three in January and he’s currently completed developmental therapy and occupational therapy. He’s made a bunch of progress. At two he didn’t talk at all. Now he can label almost everything, asks for specific drinks and food, sings nursery rhymes, can count to 20, knows his abcs, shapes, colors, animals. Recently he’s been mimicking a lot. We never got him evaluated, but none of his therapists are concerned about autism. But, he doesn’t listen and it’s so hard to get him to do what we want him to do. All he does is yell and run around throwing things in my house on the floor. He laughs when we tell him no. He doesn’t care when we put him in time out he just keeps doing what he was doing when he gets out. He runs around screaming all the time for no reason. I do admit that we’ve even tried spanking as a last resort, but he just laughs at that too. I don’t know what to do and as mentally worn down and tired as I am; he has a never ending supply of energy. I love my son, and I want to do whatever I can for him. But, nothing I’m doing seems to be working.
