Because that is the standard protocol for dating a pregnancy till a dating scan is performed. It’s pretty regular procedure across the board unless you’ve had fertility treatments like IVF or IUI for example.

They still do for IVF too, unless ovulation was delayed. At least the did for me. Everyone tried to add two weeks to C when I said he was born at 23+1 and I had to keep explaining that was with the added two weeks.

I think it varies by physician our IVF doctors use transfer date and LMP. Which I think is greatly because of their opinion lol My sister in-law did IVF and hers went by LMP the first time and TD second time 🙊

scary. Should be universal. Although I should have lied- I didn’t know better. We would have had a better birth experience because they wouldn’t have given up hope 🙄

The day your period starts is day 1 of your cycle, and most women ovulate midway through, so it's a good average date to use.
