Sooo I have a major problem. I babysit a 3 year old and an 8 month old. The 3 year old is like a golden child 90% of the time. I have no problem keeping her. The 8 month old literally makes me hate my job so much. He’s very clingy and HAS to be carried literally 24/7 he won’t play in a bouncer, he won’t sit in the playpen with toys for longer than 5 mins, he won’t sit in the floor.. nothing. He screams at the top of his lungs any time I sit him down. I have 2 other kids to tend to. I can’t cook, change my daughters diapers, help the 3 year old when she potty’s or anything without him screaming bloody murder. Idk what to do. I don’t make near enough money to deal with this. It’s only 3 days a week for about 6-7 hours and I get paid $50 a week. I need the $50 and I don’t want to let the parents down (they chose me over day care cause they know me personally and I’m obviously cheaper) but I honestly don’t know how much more I can take. My girls hate for him to be here cause when he screams and cries it scares them, we don’t get to do as much learning or crafts because I have to be really hands on with them and I just can’t with a baby on my hip.. I have literally hurt my back last week because I’m very small and carrying him around while trying to tend to my girls just did something. I’ve had the worst back ache and back spasms since last Thursday when I picked him up out of his playpen. I usually love my job. Monday and Friday are perfect days because it’s just me and the toddlers so they’re schedule is normal and we get to do our normal stuff but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are literally HELL. 😭 sorry for the long post I just needed to vent a little I guess.

Ask for a pay increase and maybe baby wear. Only way I can get stuff done with my son a few weeks ago.

@ataraxia, I thought about both of those but I’m not sure how to approach the pay conversation and I can’t find a cheap carrier that can be used on my back too instead of just my front

Try Facebook marketplace for a nice carrier or once upon a child if you don’t mind thrifting. Also just try to bring up a small increase that’s still affordable. It may be uncomfortable but you deserve it!

Tell them they need to get you one and if he don't stop then you will need more money to handle him. I watch a girl for 10 a day. So I get 50 for 1. You need to get paid more for 2 kids

@momof3cuties, both sets of parents pay $50 a week and the girls mom is awesome which I’ve baby sat for her for a while now but the baby’s mom is a little different like she’s more strict on how much and when he eats and stuff like that and I already asked for her to bring the playpen so would it seem like too much to ask for a raise and a carrier? I try not to burden people or ask for too much lol

Check on mercari or Facebook marketplace for a carrier. I’ve been seeing a lot of good carriers for really cheap. And you definitely deserve a pay raise.

This one isn't a bad carrier, we have used it.... The more money you spend the better the quality.... But if you just started watching him, he just might need to get used to you and your ways.... He will learn that you can't hold him 24/7. @caseyann19 I wouldn't say can I get paid more so I can buy him a carrier, see if parents would provide one.

That’s the one we use all the time and it’s really good for amount of money you spend . I’ve seen it at target for 20 so used would be even cheaper

You do not charge enough. I watch 5 kiddos in my home. I charge $125 a week (which is still a bargain around here) if a child didn’t mesh well here I would find a replacement. You have to think of the other kiddos and your sanity. Also with him only being 8 months old he will most likely grow out of it. But I would definitely charge more.

@ashleyraecollier, a lot of people tell me that I’m ridiculously cheap especially with the fact that I treat is very similar to daycare. The have schedules and learning time and crafts and not to mention I feed them several times a day with food that I provide 🤦🏻♀️ I do it so cheap for the little girls mom because I know she doesn’t make a lot of money and she has 3 kids to provide for but the baby’s mom works for my aunt and my aunt is the one paying me and she owns her ow very successful bookkeeping business so I know she could probably afford to pay more

@scidg3, would this hold toddler too? I don’t mind buying one but I’d like for it to hold my daughter if I’m paying for it so that way when I have her out somewhere and don’t wanna fool with her stroller I can use the carrier lol

Holds up to 32 lbs I believe
